Who we are...

We are civil engineers.  As individuals, we have joined the nation's oldest professional society, the Boston Society of Civil Engineers (founded in 1848).  The BSCES is the Massachusetts section of the American Society of Civil EngineersOn our own, as a volunteer effort, we put together all sorts of activities to help our communities better understand and appreciate their infrastructure, where it came from, why it was bilt the way it was, what it takes to keep it running, and all about the people who make that happen.  The "Celebration of Infrastructure" is an event we plan to have annually somewhere in Massachusetts.  Last year, we celebrated the 100th birthday of the Cape Cod Canal.  This year, we are celebrating the Choate Bridge.  The group behind this event is the Past Presidents Committee of the Boston Society of Civil Engineers. The BSCES Public Awareness & Outreach Committee runs 2 other websites, www.engineeryourfuture.org and www.civilsbeingcivil.org.  Find our more about the BSCES at www.bsces.org
